From recordings to accurate, playable sheet music.
Have a recording you’d like turned into sheet music? Or an existing scoreA written representation of a piece of music, including the notation for all parts of an ensemble., MIDIA protocol for communicating musical information, such as notes and control signals, between electronic musical instruments and computers. file, or AI-generated transcriptionThe process of notating a piece of music as it is performed, either by ear or from a recording. that needs professional attention?
Arranger for Hire creates accurate, readable musical scores from recordings and digital source materials. Whether you need a lead sheet, piano/vocal score, ensemble transcription, or full score and partsIndividual pieces of music, each designed to be performed by a single musician or section of an ensemble., we bring the musical judgment and notationA system of symbols used to write down music. expertise needed to make the result usable.
What Can We Work From?
We work with a wide variety of musical source materials, including commercial recordings, YouTube links, MP3s, live performances, and customer recordings.
If you already have digital materials, we can also work from MIDI files, MusicXML, notation projects, DAWDigital Audio Workstation. Some are: Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro X, Cubase, Pro Tools, Studio One, Reason, Reaper, Digital Performer, Bitwig Studio, Samplitude Pro X, GarageBand (Mac), Cakewalk by BandLab, Presonus Studio One, Tracktion Waveform sessions, PDFs, or existing scores. These can sometimes provide a valuable head start, even when they’re incomplete.
The goal is the same regardless of the starting point: to produce a score that accurately represents the music and is practical for its intended use.
AI Transcription Correction and Reconstruction
AI music transcription has made remarkable progress. Automated tools can now identify melodies, harmonies, rhythms, and even multiple instrumental parts in complex recordings.
AI has gotten pretty good at recognizing musical information – but that isn’t the same as preparing a usable score with markings, correct meter, phrasing, and other features human performers need.
AI-generated transcriptions may contain incorrect instrument assignments, confused polyphonic passages, misplaced notes, rhythmic-grid errors, and missing dynamicsThe relative loudness or softness of an element of piece of music, indicated by symbols, or controlled by MIDI values, articulations, or other musical markings. Some passages need straightforward correction; others require careful reconstruction from the original recording.
Already have an AI-generated score? You may be further along than you think.
Send us the transcription and the original audio. We’ll assess what can be retained, what needs repair, and what it will take to produce a professional result.
What Does Music Transcription Cost?
Every project is different, so we assess the source materials before providing a firm quotation.
The cost depends on the duration of the music, the density and complexity of the arrangementrefers to the structure and order of musical elements in a composition, such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and instrumentation., the number of independent instrumental or vocal parts, and the quality of the available source materials.
Dense harmonies, overlapping instruments, complex rhythms, and unclear recordings generally require more transcription time. Larger ensembles and extensive score reconstruction can also increase the workload.
On the other hand, clear recordings, repeated sections, isolated instrumental tracks, and usable digital scores or MIDI files may reduce the amount of work required. Even an AI transcription can provide a useful starting point — provided its errors don’t outweigh the time saved.
We evaluate these factors together rather than assigning a price based solely on the length of the recording or the number of instruments.
From Transcription to Finished Score
Depending on your needs, we can prepare lead sheets, piano/vocal scores, full ensemble scores, individual instrumental parts, and editable digital notation files.
Our work can include correcting notes and rhythms, organizing voices and staves, resolving instrumental assignments, adding musical markings, and preparing clear, readable notation for rehearsal, performance, or publication.
You don’t have to know which technical steps your project requires. That’s part of what we’ll determine during the assessment.
Let’s Hear What You’re Working On
Send us a recording, a link, or whatever source materials you have available, along with a brief description of what you’d like to accomplish.
We’ll review the materials, discuss the appropriate deliverables, and provide a project-specific quote.
