We heard from Matt Hooverman, a friend and booster of the excellent the Lansing, MI Swan Valley High School Symphonic Band, with a request for a commemorative piece to be performed at the dedication of the school’s new concert auditorium.
He requested the title “The Heartbeat of Viking Country,” honoring the school’s team mascot.
This piece has Copland-esque moments along with other traditional and contemporary compositional styles, with a running time of around 5 minutes, at Grade 5 difficulty.
